Tools reference

Every tool the TRAIL Search MCP server exposes.

Tool	Returns	Parameters
`search_market_map`	Your brand vs. competitors in a share-of-voice grid	`brand_id`, `per_cell` (1–4, default 2)
`search_weekly_report`	This week's visibility report: time series, question health, content effort	`brand_id`, `runs` (1–20, default 5)
`search_daily_actions`	Today's next actions, or the setup gate if onboarding isn't finished	`brand_id`
`search_read_content`	One article: title, meta description, body, heading outline, provenance summary	`content_id`

All four are read-only and don't use credits. The server advertises its tool list itself, so your client shows the same names after connecting.

Errors

Status	Meaning
401	Missing or invalid API key
429	Rate limit reached for this key. Retry after a second.
